Under close supervision of the Aquatics Manger, performs professional duties in ensuring effective performance of lifeguard functions. Assist in training, scheduling and evaluating lifeguards. Ensures that lifesaving certification is current and that all lifeguards are fully competent in performing water rescue procedures and coordinates in ensuring safety of patrons in and around the pools and monitoring swimmers and to enforce all safety rules.




  1. Performs all lifeguard responsibilities including monitoring pool activities, applying first aid, and performing water rescues as necessary.
  2. Ensures that swimmers are well supervised in the pool and on decks. Fills in for lifeguards as necessary.
  3. Orients new lifeguards to job duties and responsibilities. Ensures that all lifeguards are current on their training and certifications.
  4. Schedules, coordinates and conducts Inservice training. Ensures that all lifeguards are fully competent in first aid, CPR and all water rescue techniques.
  5. Assist with the scheduling of lifeguards to ensure that adequate coverage of pool areas is maintained during operating hours.
  6. Ensures that lifeguards perform in accordance with established safety regulations and policies.
  7. Keeps the management well informed of pool maintenance needs including cleaning, chemical adjustments, and repairs.
  8. Inventories and recognizes when supplies or equipment need to be ordered and communicates the needs to the Aquatics Manger.
  9. Interfaces with patrons regarding concerns, problems, or any other significant issues. Provides input and feedback while responding to problems.
  10. Ensures that aquatic programs are occurring as desired and assists with the overall management of swimming events.
  11. Make sure daily opening checklist are complete: check bathroom cleanliness, clean up pool debris, check lifeguard schedule for current day, ensure towels are restocked, check trash level, place rescue tubes around pool, vacuum pool (if needed)
  12. Take out trash throughout shift (as needed)
  13. Inform pool supervisor about unresolved member or guest disputes
  14. Make sure closing checklist is complete


Minimum Qualifications:


  1. Must possess a valid American Red Cross Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR Certificate
  2. Must have previous paid lifeguard experience or previous lifeguard supervisory experience.
  3. Ability to pass a Club prepared water test.
  4. Must have the knowledge of water rescue methods, lifeguarding, first-aid practices and techniques, and possess the ability to carry out water rescues
  5. Must have patience with children and adults
  6. Must be able to give direction and monitor coworkers
  7. Must be on time and correctly dressed for all work shifts
  8. Must be available for scheduled work on evenings, weekends, and or holidays
  9. Requires management skills
