JOB SUMMARY: Supervises and coordinates activities of dining room personnel to provide the highest quality of service to Vestavia Country Club's members and guests; in accordance with established Vestavia Country Club and departmental policies and procedures.




  1. Receives and greets members and guests.
  2. Suggests and describes daily specials, available appetizers, entrees, desserts, alcoholic beverages and wines to members and guests.
  3. Assures that pre-opening cleaning tasks are assigned and completed as required.
  4. Inspects dining room serving stations for neatness and cleanliness, and requisitions table linens and other dining room supplies for tables and serving stations.
  5. May schedule work hours and keep time records of dining room workers.
  6. Coordinates food service between kitchen and service staff.
  7. Resolves member and guest complaints.
  8. Assures that all safety, accident and emergency policies and procedures are in place and consistently followed.
  9. Assures that revenue control procedures are continually followed.
  10. Provides layout and design recommendations to applicable managers.
  11. Suggests dining room decorations for special themes.
  12. Manages the guest reservation system and/or a waiting list if necessary.
  13. May assist with preparing, serving and expediting food orders in dining room or outlets and for special functions when needed.
  14. Assists with table clearing and re-setting as needed.
  15. Suggests when additional service supplies and small equipment are needed.
  16. Enforces Vestavia Country Club established rules, regulations and policies and assures that local and state laws for the service of alcoholic beverages are consistently followed.
  17. May serve as club's opening or closing manager or manager on duty.
  18. Maintains amenities for dining room.
  19. Assists in inventory assessments.
  20. Conducts pre-service employee briefings (line-up meetings).
  21. Coordinates any special requests including dietary needs with the executive chef.
  22. Regular and prompt attendance.
  23. Completes other assignments and duties as assigned.



  1. Minimum two (2) years proven experience in hospitality industry.
  2. Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments.
  3. Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations.
  4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and discretion with confidential information.
  5. Perform quality work within deadlines.
  6. Interact professionally with other employees, members and guests.
  7. Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc)




  1. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule to include holidays, special occasions and unexpected schedule changes or emergencies.
  2. Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs without restrictions.
  3. Must be able to push or pull up to 30 lbs without restrictions.
  4. Must be able to stand for long periods of time without breaks
